Crypto Project Reviews: What Web3 Projects Actually Do

We review Web3 projects by what they build and how it works – not by token price. Explore identity, storage, stablecoins, real-world assets, privacy tools and NFT infrastructure.

How we review a crypto project

Thousands of tokens exist, but only a fraction belong to projects with a working product. Our reviews try to separate the technology from the marketing. Every review answers the same core questions, so you can compare projects across sectors:

  • Problem – what real problem the project solves, and for whom.
  • Technology – how it works, which chain it runs on and what is live versus planned.
  • Token role – whether the token is necessary for the product and how supply is distributed.
  • Adoption – on-chain usage, integrations and developer activity.
  • Risks – centralisation, regulatory exposure, audits and dependencies.

Sectors we cover

SectorWhat it coversTypical questions
Decentralized identityDIDs, verifiable credentials, naming systemsWho issues credentials and who verifies them?
Privacy projectsZK, TEE, FHE and MPC-based toolsWhat is hidden and what must you trust?
NFT & metaverseMarketplaces, standards, virtual worldsHow much activity is organic?
Storage & computeFile storage, GPU and compute networksIs the capacity actually used?
StablecoinsFiat-backed, crypto-backed and synthetic designsWhat backs the peg and who can redeem?
Real-world assetsTokenised bonds, funds, credit, commoditiesWhat is the legal link to the asset?

Red flags we look for

  • A token that has no clear function in the product.
  • A large share of supply held by insiders with short unlock schedules.
  • Admin keys that can change contracts or move user funds without a delay.
  • Claims of partnerships or users that cannot be verified on-chain or in public sources.
  • No independent security audit for contracts that hold user funds.

How to read on-chain adoption

Transaction counts and wallet numbers can be inflated by bots, airdrop farming and incentives. Where possible we look at retention, fees paid by users and activity after incentives end. A project with fewer but recurring users is often healthier than one with a short burst of activity.

What a review is not

Our reviews are not sponsored and are not investment advice. We do not publish price predictions. When a project has a commercial relationship with us, we say so clearly – see our editorial policy.

Where to start

If you are new to Web3 projects, begin with the sectors that have the clearest real-world use: stablecoins and tokenised real-world assets. Both connect directly to traditional finance and have measurable adoption. Identity and storage projects are earlier in their development, while NFT and metaverse projects are useful case studies of how hype cycles affect on-chain activity.

Each sector hub explains the basics, compares the main approaches and links to our individual reviews, so you can go from overview to detail in a few clicks.
